The Early Years

“As a child I would go with my grandfather, Lorenzo Basile, to construction sites and I was impressed how he was the foreman of this large construction company and I knew I wanted to be similar to him… I wanted to construct and design yards.  My grandfather’s lessons paved the way for my success by teaching me the valuable lessons of gardening, installing walkways, building walls, bricklaying, and more.”

The Violet Hill name came about in 1982 when, at the age of 23, William “Bill” Basile started his own company in Providence, RI.  Bill called the company Violet Hill Landscaping to honor the area where his family lived.  His goal was to build a company his family would be proud of, a legacy for families to enjoy.  

In December 2019, Violet Hill Landscaping purchased Andy’s Nursery which was established in 1946 from his longtime friend Tony Carcieri.  Violet Hill Landscaping and Nursery will continue providing its consumers with distinct quality landscape work and plant material.
